Mental Health, Well-being, Suicide Awareness and Prevention – The Academy at Harmless

The Academy is the training department of Harmless – the national centre of excellence for self harm and suicide prevention. We provide bespoke courses on a number of topics relating to mental health and wellbeing which always place lived experience at their heart, combined with our service’s clinical expertise and the most up-to-date evidence-based knowledge, in line with NICE Guidelines, the National Suicide Prevention Strategy, SASP Core Standards and the Health Education England Frameworks.

The specialist training we deliver includes (but is not limited to):

  • Self Harm Awareness and Prevention
  • Suicide Prevention and Intervention
  • Suicide Bereavement Awareness and Support
  • Mental Health Awareness and Intervention
  • Train the Trainer programmes

All training is CPD-accredited and offered at introductory, intermediate, advanced and specialist levels. Delegates receive CPD certificates on course completion.

Through all training, learning is enhanced through interactive elements like quizzes, audio-visuals, case studies and creative discussion exercises.

We can deliver:

  • To small or large groups
  • To all ages (including primary school children)
  • To any professional or occupational group
  • Anywhere in the UK (or beyond)
  • One-off short workshops responding to specific organisational circumstances
  • Large-scale delivery contracts across organisations, local authority areas, and NHS ICS/ICBs.

To ensure we meet client and delegate needs, we deliver training face-to-face, through trainer-led virtual classrooms across a range of platforms, and we offer e-learning options for self-directed learning via our Harmless ePortal.

For organisations requiring several training sessions, our dedicated administrative team can support with managing all elements of course administration including advertising, course bookings, communication with delegates, evaluation collection and reporting.

The goal of our training is to help equip everyone to respond well to someone in distress. In addition, all income generated through our training sales goes directly back into our life-saving self harm, suicide crisis and suicide bereavement clinical support services.
